Since 2001,TNT PLATES-03 Pamela has been a proud participant and successful fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training (TNT) and the effort to find a cure. She has joined the team of “purple people” for seven races, including two full marathons in San Diego in 2001 and again in June 2006, a half marathon in Las Vegas in 2004, a half marathon in Humboldt County in 2005, the Nike Women’s half marathon in San Francisco in 2007, the Oakland half marathon in 2010 and the Kauai Hawaii half-marathon in 2010.

The first TNT marathon was the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon in June 2001. Attorneys Price and M. Hope Young walked 26.2 miles with the strident encouragement of their families along the way. Singing their theme song, Edwinn K. Starr’s “25 Miles from Home”, they completed the marathon with a single step in seven (7) hours. Through the generosity of her clients, friends, family and associates, Price raised approximately $5,000 to help find a cure for blood cancers.

As Price and Young were preparing to join the team again in the summer of 2001, Attorney Price learned that her case of Morgan v. Amtrak had been accepted for review by the United States Supreme Court. She was forced to TNT 2001take a brief hiatus from the team in order to prepare for the oral argument in January 2002. For more about the case, see Morgan v. Amtrak.

The brief hiatus continued for a few years. Then, in the fall of 2003, Attorney Price trained with the team for the 2004 Las Vegas Half-Marathon. Through the generosity of her clients, friends, family and associates, she raised $5,400 to help find a cure for blood cancer.

Pamela was so inspired by her experience with Team in Training (TNT) that she went on to complete three more half marathons on her own, including America’s Finest City Half-Marathon in San Diego in August 2004, the P.F. Chang Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in Phoenix, Arizona, in January 2005 and Arizona Road Racers 12th Annual Desert Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona, in February 2006.

In May 2005, Price joined the team a third time to walk in the Avenue of the Giants Half-Marathon in Humboldt County, California. This time, the Firm sponsored her and donated $2,200 to the cause for a cure.

In January 2006, Price defected from the walk team and signed up to do a full marathon with the run team. Price joined what became Team Balance and ultimately completed the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon a second time. It was painful – her ankles swelled and rebelled by mile 14. She finished the full marathon, walking just as much as running. She raised more than $5,000 to help find a cure.

In 2010, Price served as an official Team mentor for a total of eight successful walkers. For the first time, the Firm sponsored a group of its own walkers as part of Team Paloma for the 2010 Summer season. Four Team Paloma-Price walkers trained to participate in either the Nike Women’s Marathon or the Kauai Marathon. The Firm’s Office Manager, Zulma Navarro, successfully completed the Kauai half-marathon. Two other Team Paloma-Price members, Attorney Janae Brown, and her mother, Andrea Brown, successfully completed the Nike Women’s half marathon. Through the generosity of family, friends and clients, Team Paloma-Price successfully raised more than $10,000 to help find a cure for blood cancers.

Price celebrates the circle of life that has been and continues to be Team In Training. She is proud to be a member of the Team and continues to be inspired by the example of the Team’s Coaches, mentors, captains, managers and Honorees. The lessons learned from Coach Al and Mama Lisa have changed her lives as well as the lives of thousands of others. GO TEAM!!!!
