Team in Training
Since 2001, the Firm has been a proud participant and financial supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training (TNT) and the effort to find a cure. Attorney Price has joined the team of "purple people" for five races, including a full marathon in San Diego in 2001, a half-marathon in Las Vegas in 2004, a half-marathon in Humboldt County in 2005, a full marathon again in San Diego in June 2006, and the Nike Women’s half-marathon in San Francisco in 2007.
The first TNT marathon was the San Diego Rock N' Roll Marathon in June 2001. Attorneys Price and M. Hope Young walked 26.2 miles with the strident encouragement of their families along the way. Singing their theme song, Edwin K. Starr's "25 Miles from Home," they completed the marathon with a single step in seven (7) hours. Through the generosity of her clients, friends, family and associates, Price raised approximately $5,000 to help find a cure for blood cancers.
As Price and Young were preparing to join the team again in the summer of 2001, Attorney Price learned that her case of Morgan v. Amtrak had been accepted for review by the United States Supreme Court. She was forced to take a brief hiatus from the team in order to prepare for the oral argument in January 2002. For more about the case, go the In The Media page.
The brief hiatus continued for a few years. Then, in the fall of 2003, Attorney Price was joined by her husband, Vernon Crawley, and they trained with the team together for the 2004 Las Vegas Half-Marathon They completed this half-marathon with a single step in 3 hours and 17 minutes. Together, through the generosity of their clients, friends, family and associates, they raised $5,400 to help find a cure for blood cancer.
Price and Crawley were so inspired by their experience with Team in Training (TNT) that they went on to complete three more half-marathons on their own, including America's Finest City Half-Marathon in San Diego in August 2004, the P.F. Chang Rock n' Roll Half-Marathon in Phoenix, Arizona, in January 2005 (Vernon sat out the second one), and Arizona Road Racers 12th Annual Desert Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona, in February 2006.
In May 2005, Price struck out on her own (Vernon joined Hope on the "hiatus") and joined the team a third time to walk in the Avenue of the Giants Half-Marathon in Humboldt County, California. This time, the Firm sponsored her and donated $2,200 to the cause for a cure.
In January 2006, Price defected from the walk team and signed up to do a full marathon with the run team. Price joined what became Team Balance and ultimately completed the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon a second time. It was painful; she had injuries, and struggled to get through it. Her ankles swelled and rebelled by mile 14. She finished the full marathon, walking just as much as running. Vernon, who trained with the walk team, finished his first full marathon before her. The good news, however, is that together, the couple raised more than $5,000 to help find a cure.
Price celebrates the circle of life that has been and continues to be Team In Training. She is proud to be a member of the Team and continues to be inspired by the example of the Team’s Coaches, mentors, captains, managers and Honorees. GO TEAM!!!!
