Civil Rights Litigation

Civil rights entitle people to basic freedoms — freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to vote and the right to be treated as an equal. Discrimination occurs when basic rights are denied because of race, age, sex, religion, nationality, sexual preference or physical limitations.

Price And Associates has achieved outstanding results in the civil rights arena, representing plaintiffs in discrimination cases involving race, sex, age, and religion, as well as sexual harassment, retaliation and police misconduct cases. The civil rights practice includes discrimination claims in employment, education and housing.

The attorneys are well-versed in the constitutional issues and intricate state and federal laws that relate to how government and private employers must treat prospective, current and former employees and how schools, colleges and universities must treat students and faculty. The Firm fully understands Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the California Civil Rights (Unruh) Act, the California Fair Employment & Housing Act, 42 U.S.C. Section 1981 and 42 U.S.C. Section 1983.

The Firm also specializes in attorney fee litigation, representing other attorneys who have successfully vindicated their client's civil rights. The Firm has had significant success arguing for fees on behalf of other civil rights attorneys.
